Community Guidelines

Updated October 27, 2025

We're creating a welcoming space for campus communities and interest groups. These Guidelines ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable participating. Our community is built on respect, authenticity, inclusivity, and safety—treating everyone kindly and considerately, being genuine and honest, welcoming diverse viewpoints, and protecting yourself and others from harm. In some cases, we might not take action against content that's newsworthy and important to the community.

Harassment & Bullying

We have zero tolerance for bullying or harassment. Constructive criticism is fine, but don't intentionally hurt someone's feelings or make them uncomfortable. Never share personal or contact information without consent.

Hate Speech & Discrimination

Don't post content that targets individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics. Avoid hate symbols and targeted conspiracy theories.

Threats, Violence & Harm

Never threaten or incite violence or harm. Graphic content, gratuitous violence, or content promoting self-harm or dangerous activities is prohibited.

False Information & Impersonation

Don't deliberately spread misinformation that can cause harm. Impersonating other people or organizations, or presenting manipulated media as genuine, is not allowed.

Illegal Activities

Don't use the platform to promote or engage in illegal activities, such as buying or selling illegal substances, counterfeit goods, gambling (including online casinos, sports betting, bingo, or poker), or weapons. Hacking, malware distribution, and academic dishonesty are strictly forbidden.

Spam & Deceptive Practices

Avoid repetitive, irrelevant content, fake engagement (likes, follows), unauthorized advertising, and phishing or scam attempts.

Anonymous Posting

Anonymous posting is meant to encourage openness—not to excuse harmful behavior. All Community Guidelines still apply. If you post or reply (even anonymously) in a community where you hold a "Verified Student" or "Verified Alumni" campus community role, that badge will appear in your post or reply—while your actual user ID remains hidden, even from people with access to xaround's database. This works because role verification happens at runtime on our cloud servers, without logging your user ID to the database.

Content Warnings

Apply "Sensitive" or "Spoiler" warnings for potentially distressing or controversial content, spoilers, or medical imagery.

Hashtags

Use relevant hashtags responsibly and avoid spamming or misleading tags. Offensive hashtags are prohibited.

Reporting & Enforcement

If you see something inappropriate, use the in-app reporting feature:

  • Tap the ··· menu on a post or reply.
  • Select "Report" action.
  • Choose the appropriate report category and write descriptions if needed.

We carefully review all reports. Violations may result in content removal, temporary account restrictions, or permanent bans. Serious violations may involve notifying law enforcement.
